We have some incredibly regrettable news to report out of Florida, where among the founding companions of Am Law 100 solid Greenberg Traurig just recently passed away
Greater than 50 years earlier, Larry Hoffman , 95, and lawyers Mel Greenberg and Robert Traurig were inspired over a delicatessens lunch to create a new firm, and in 1967, the trio established Greenberg Traurig Hoffman. After working as founding chairman and chief executive officer, Hoffman made a decision to eliminate his surname from the company’s name. Elderly chairman Cesar L. Alvarez, among Hoffman’s mentees, notes in the American Legal representative that it was because Hoffman was” [n] onegotistical with the company’s best interest in mind.”
Hoffman, a grad of the College of Miami College of Legislation, supervised the firm’s development from Florida to major markets throughout the East Coastline, from New York to Washington, D.C. Under his management and as the “architect of the plan for growth,” Greenberg Traurig– presently rated at No. 16 on the Am Law 100– became one of the fastest-growing Biglaw companies. Thanks to Hoffman’s vision, the company has expanded globally, with greater than 2, 850 legal representatives spread throughout 49 workplaces on 4 continents.
Right here’s what Greenberg Traurig leaders Brian Duffy , CEO, and Richard A. Rosenbaum , executive chairman, needed to say of Hoffman:
“Larry was an amazing business owner and an even better partner and pal,” stated Brian Duffy, CEO of Greenberg Traurig. “When Larry counted on you, it provided you the confidence to count on yourself. He did so lots of things properly and constantly for the best reasons. His passing is a reminder to the whole GT Family members of what we owe to the male and his legacy.”
“Without Larry Hoffman, Greenberg Traurig, and myself personally, would certainly not have actually experienced the amazing growth and success we have actually seen over years,” stated Richard A. Rosenbaum, executive chairman of Greenberg Traurig, in a statement. “He was my 2nd father and without his vision, sacrifice, unselfishness, wisdom and business savvy, his deep, though peaceful, understanding of a lot of things pertinent to a growing professional solution organization, and his impulses about individuals, we would simply not be who we are today.”
Hoffman was the last living owner of the firm, having been predeceased by Traurig in 2018 and Greenberg in 1994
We here at Above the Regulation want to prolong our acknowledgements to Larry Hoffman’s household, good friends, and coworkers during this hard time.
